Weekly Report — 08.08.2022–14.08.2022

Weekly Highlights

1. Over 31 consensus nodes and 255 storage nodes have been successfully registered within 3 days since the release of the CESS testnet v0.5.0 on Aug 9th, The effective storage space of the current testnet has exceeded 2TiB.

2. Great development progress in storage miners, scheduling nodes, gateways, new version of blockchain explorer, etc.

Project Development Details:

1. Storage Miner

Storage Miner Bucket

  • Optimized the logic of on-chain transaction and chain status query to reduce process time.
  • The displayed storage space units are 1024 bytes based, e.g. GiB.
  • Added filter condition: storage miners cannot submit empty proof lists.
  • Optimized judgment code: exit program automatically if individual’s information cannot be found for 10 times consecutively.
  • Debugged the problem that the miners were penalized on testnet but the status of insufficient deposit was not frozen
  • Added the buffer period method to change the miner’s status to frozen, and then enabled the buffer period scheduling method to return the miner’s status back to the previous one. It ran smoothly in the following tests.
  • Fixed the problem that some filling documents failed to submit proofs.
  • Fixed an issue where submitted proofs were sometimes empty.
  • Fixed the problem that the metadata failed to be uploaded on-chain due to duplicate file IDs of the filling files.
  • Released v0.5.0 source code and docker image

2. Scheduling Node

Scheduler

  • The metadata lists in the updated submission filling file can only be 8 or fewer.
  • Optimized miner proof-of-space logic.
  • Upgraded the function of querying purchases storage package details for users.
  • Optimized the logic of all on-chain transactions and chain status inquiry to reduce process time.
  • Fixed the problem that the old miners of the previous version slowed down the network connection for the new miners.
  • Fixed the problem that the metadata failed to be uploaded on-chain due to duplicate file IDs of the filling files.
  • Released v0.5.0 locally and released the v0.2.0 docker image to the public.

3. Gateway

  • Optimized the logic of on-chain transaction and chain status query to reduce process time.
  • Added the function command to query the purchased storage package.
  • • Updated Github readme description in gateway
  • Released V0.2.0 (adapted to cess chain v0.5).

4. Version 0.5.0

V.0.5.0:

  • Deployed EVM in the production of version 0.5.0;

Block Explorer:

  • Modified the fields and display content on the new version.
  • Developed its mobile compatible pages, completed the development of menu bar, public components and homepage.
  • Deployed rpc nodes for new version.

Go SDK:

  • Upgraded the file upload, download, deletion, and query interfaces. Added functions: remaining purchased storage packages, upgrade package options, and renewal options.

Testnet

Overview:

  • The CESS V0.5.0 testnet was launched on August 9th. Storage nodes close to 300 as of the end of last week.
  • The effective storage capacity of the entire network has exceeded 2TiB.

Event:

The miner reward event for the CESS testnet continued as storage and consensus miners can earn points by participating. Points can be exchanged for CESS tokens when the mainnet launches. Click here for details.

If you encounter any issues building a node, please seek assistance on CESS Discord.

Community Activities

1. CESS launched two “Guess to Win” airdrop events since the release of the V0.5.0 testnet.

First round: Participants guessed the effective storage capacity of the entire network at a specific time.

Second round: Participants guessed the number of testnet storage miners at a specific time.

Three participants who guessed the closest to the actual answers each round respectively received 500, 300, and 200 CESS token rewards. There are a total of six winners for both contests.
