As June emerges, we’re here with yet another monthly update to provide you with the low-down surrounding the Gear ecosystem!
As you may already know, we’re currently in the process of passing an external third-party security audit right now. Because of this, we are unable to provide any development or technical updates. We would however like to share some of the most recent updates surrounding the Gear community!
In May, we had the opportunity to organize various events all around the world. We started with an online workshop for the Chinese community, where we provided detailed presentations about our core technologies and we even showed the participants how to create smart contracts using the Gear Network.
On top of this, we also held another three in person workshops. The first workshop was held at the Bogazici University, which is a major research university in Istanbul. The second workshop took place at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, which is one of the most prestigious in technological research. Finally, the third workshop was our first one in Vietnam, which took place at the VNU University of Engineering and Technology, which is part of the Vietnam National University of Hanoi (VNU).
We took part in the BlockchainWave conference as both participants and sponsors! This was an open-air conference that was held in Antalya, Turkey. Here, the guests had the opportunity to meet the team, attend presentations and participate in discussions about the latest trends within the industry. On top of this, there was a gala dinner and party after the event. You can check out the video from the conference here!
This month, we were also selected to participate in the 2022 Web3 Bootcamp that has been organized by the Web3 Foundation, Parity Technologies, Wanxiang Blockchain Labs, and New Chainbase! We were also united to participate in the opening ceremony, where the main speaker was Gavin Wood himself!
We also held various meetups worldwide, including one where we celebrated the now famous Bitcoin Pizza Day among others at the Bitcoin Embassy bar in Mexico. These have been so popular, that we’ve decided to hold meetups here monthly! On top of the events in Mexico, we also held another two meetups in Istanbul at the Craft Beer Lab and in Vietnam at the Turtle Lake Brewing Company. We also had an opportunity to meet two outstanding teams in person, both the guys from SubWallet and CryptoViet!
Additionally, our CEO and Founder Nikolay Volf took part in two AMAs this month, one of which was hosted by CryptoViet and another by PolkaWarriors. We’ve also decided that we’ll begin to hold monthly events for the Chinese community called the “Gear Talk,” where we will be inviting members of different blockchain projects to come and speak. This month, our guest was the SubQuery Global Community manager and she introduced us to the key technologies and working mechanisms within their project as well as detailed the integration with the Gear Network!
This month, we also published a video tutorial and an educational article about DAOs and we’re planning to work on more tutorials and articles on each potential use case on the Gear network. Spoiler alert, the next one will be about NFTs!
Among the other updates, we’d like to invite you to join the 2022 Polkadot Hackathon, which is being organized by Parity Technologies and the OneBlock+ community and sponsored by SubQuery & Gear Technologies, Moonbeam, and the Phala Network. Registration continues until the 22nd of June. You can find out how to sign up in this article. Our CTO Peter Volynsky will be among the judges at the hackathon!
Finally, we have been working on creating a Gear Academy, which will act as an introductory educational free course for developing on the Gear Platform. We are looking forward to finishing it and sharing it with you!
As usual, we would like to extend our thanks to all the community for taking part in our events! Don’t forget to keep an eye on our updates for more information!
Best regards,
The Gear Team
