Gear is an advanced WASM based smart contract platform, aiming to be a Polkadot and Kusama parachain. It is designed to be fast, secure and connect well with the Polkadot protocol. It will provide many applications fast track to our whole ecosystem fast and for cheap.
On May 24, Gear team and PolkaWarriors held an AMA session with the community to update and bring many interesting updates from the project.
In case you couldn’t join our AMA with Gear, check our recap now to update more info about Gear. Below is a summary of the outstanding questions and answers from the AMA session.
1. Hackers are very active in the market and hear about other hackers almost every day. Can you provide some information about the project's security system, and how safe are investors' funds? Have you done a security audit?
Nikolay Volf:
Our security is provided by the Substrate, a modular framework that enables the creation of custom-built blockchains with consensus mechanism, core functionality and provides a basic set of tools for developing safe and secure networks.
We did a vast internal audit and now we are passing an external third party security audit which we hope will be finished in the middle of summer.
We also will launch a bug bounty program together with our partners right after the audit finishes!
2. During these days a lot of projects are just copying between them and they forgot the Innovations, so can you tell us what is the special or unique thing that Your project is only able to provide?
Nikolay Volf:
Actually I believe that every project is unique and has its own vision and compliments the development of Web3. In our case, the key to Gear’s technology innovation lies behind cross-program interaction based on the Actor Model, async program execution, creating programs by other programs, a flexible program life-cycle as well as parallel message processing. Also we are using WebAssembly VM, which enables exceptional speed and low transaction costs. This makes the Gear network very scalable.
Also something that's very important is that Gear’s core team have a deep knowledge and expertise in the Polkadot technology. Gear is an independent platform that's been developed “from scratch” and does not use any built-in smart contracts running pallets.
3. What do you think about the boom of the NFT + DeFi association that is causing so much interest in the world? How does Your project take advantage of and exploit this reality?
Nikolay Volf:
Both NFTs and DeFi can be easily implemented on Gear, but they are not the only use cases possible. Gear is mostly suitable for high-load programs and applications where our async messaging can show its best capabilities.
By the way, we are working on preparing some education materials on NFTs which will be published soon in the future. The other day we published a tutorial on how to interact with DAO, in case you wanna see it you can find the link on our Twitter.

4. Marketing strategy is important for every projects.what are your plans? How will you expand your relationships & build communities in both English & Non-English speaking countries? Are there any restrictions?
Nikolay Volf:
We are willing to build a strong community all around the world and we have been working hard lately to do so. We have been holding educational workshops and meetups all around the world: in the USA, China, Turkey, Mexico and we are not planning to stop!
And by the way, as we already mentioned, we are in Vietnam now and on 26th of May we will be holding a meetup so if you are around Hanoi I would be glad to meet you in person and answer all of the possible questions about Gear!
5. Where can I get the latest updates or more information about the projects?

In the live questions section, Nikolay Volf did answer several short questions from our community.
1. Vast majority of Crypto projects are built just for the sole purpose of amassing wealth for themselves. So, I want to know the value you aim to add to the crypto industry that will bring greater abundance to the industry?
Nikolay Volf:
We are not like that! We are about technology. Gear is a team of 30 programmers :)
The value we add is to make development for Polkadot accessible for literally everyone on the planet.
2. Can you briefly describe your PARTNERSHIP so far and upcoming partnerships?
Nikolay Volf:
On launch, on any of our parachains there will be:
- working DEX with enough liquidity
- oracle services
- some source of launchpad that will help projects coming on our platform
Thinking about that, we align our work on partnership side
3. Are you planning to promote your project in countries / regions where English is not good? Do you have a local community for them to better understand your project???
Nikolay Volf:
Indeed we do!
We already have a lot of channels on our discord in languages other than English.
English is not my native tongue either
4. How many team members do you have? Do they have enough experience in the blockchain field? Do they have any experience on working in crypto and non-crypto projects?
Nikolay Volf:
We have 40 team members, 30 of them are programmers.
Most of them are pretty much aware of what it needs to be done to do a successful crypto project!
5. How did you get the community involved in developing the project? and how do you build a strong community to grow globally?
Nikolay Volf:
We just tell the truth and highlight everything we do.
We have public open-source development on GitHub and open chat with all the developers
