Building the Team
Nazar Mokrynskyi has accepted the critical role of CTO at Subspace Labs. Previously he worked as the lead backend engineer at Restream, ensuring reliable delivery of 8M+ streams to over 600M monthly users.
Skyler Vondra has joined the team as our research analyst and business development lead. He will be helping us to build more formal partnerships and integrations across the Polkadot & Kusama ecosystems.
We had a strategic offsite in Austin, TX, and we are excited to share that it was a huge success! For the first time, we had the entire business team together in a face-to-face setting. Lots of fantastic collaboration, team-building, and decision-making resulted!

Research & Engineering
A minimal block explorer and wallet for the Spartan test network are now live on Polkadot-JS Apps! Click here to look or watch this video from one of our full-stack blockchain engineers, Leo Salgado (who built it) explaining how it works.
The Kusama archiving service is almost ready! This dApp includes a backend block relayer built by Serge and a front-end dashboard made by Leo, showing as each relay and parablock gets archived on Subspace.
Nazar, has completed the critical upgrade from Spartan proof-of-useless-space to Subspace proof-of-useful-storage consensus. We will be deploying these changes into our semi-public testnet soon.
Ozgun Ozerk, our Protocol Research Engineer, has finished end-to-end plotting for GPUs, allowing farmers with NVIDIA devices to plot up to 10x faster. Be on the lookout for an article explaining the background and implications of this crucial milestone soon.
We are making steady progress on the desktop farmer. The Substrate Client is now fully integrated, and we are working on plugging it into the backend farmer protocol over the coming weeks, achieving version one!
Next Steps
Over the next month, we plan to:
- Hold an engineering offsite in Barcelona, Spain
- Deploy Subspace v1 upgrade and soft-launch the Aries test network
- Actively archive the entire Kusama network on Subspace
- Select our initial cadre of Subspace ambassadors
- Deploy a new and improved version of the Subspace website
- Lock in a security audit to prepare for mainnet launch
