The beginning of September saw an update to Substrate. In this new version, there were several changes on the Rust side in the scale-codec, which is the module responsible for encoding and decoding data. Therefore, we have made changes to the process of obtaining Metadata.
Previously, parsing of metadata into JSON format took place on the core side. But now it has been moved to the “gear-js” library.
In September, we also completed another milestone finalizing testnet configuration for nodes. Now it is possible to connect the node to the test network by simply running “gear-node”.
We added documentation to all essential gear runtime syscalls, which reside in the “gcore” library, which you can view here.
Additionally, we moved the interaction with the node to the front-end and made 61 commits, as well as updated our Wiki and documentation.
On top of working on our core product, our team was also preparing for our first workshops for students at leading universities in the USA and Russia. The workshops in Moscow will take place during the second week of October and the workshops in the U.S. will take place towards the end of the month. These workshops will provide fundamental knowledge for rapid blockchain development and they’ll teach the fastest way to deploy smart contracts using GEAR.
You should expect a lot more interesting information in the coming weeks. To keep up to date, follow us on our platforms below.
