05/12/2022 — We are thrilled to announce that Shiden has successfully completed its crowdloan and secured its parachain slot on Kusama! Thank you to everyone who contributed and our community for your continued support.
Shiden first became a parachain in June of 2021 and as we approach the one year mark, we are extremely proud of how much the network has grown. To look back and see everything we have accomplished as a community is truly inspiring and something we are very grateful for.
This parachain slot allows us to keep on innovating and developing all of our networks. Figuratively speaking, Shiden is Astars canary chain. Astars technical updates and initiatives are first implemented on Shiden, once the protocols are found to be stable and secure it then rolls out to Astar. To clarify, Shiden is not a testnet — it is an active network with value bearing assets. Shiden is to Astar as Kusama is to Polkadot.
Shiden is for innovation and speed, it is an important factor in keeping our networks ahead of the competition. The speed at which we can implement changes on Shiden allows for quick innovation, experimentation and early-stage development. We then verify the functionality and security of protocols before going live on Astar.
Community is one of the core principles we hold as a network — without your support we wouldn’t be able to build these incredible networks. This is another step towards completing our journey to becoming a DAO and another big win for decentralization and the success of the networks.
