We’re excited to announce the open beta launch of Moonwell Apollo — an open borrowing and lending decentralized finance protocol powered by Moonriver network — is now live! Moonriver users will be able to supply crypto assets and receive rewards.
As many of you know by now, Moonwell is a decentralized finance protocol, with an ambition to become the leading open lending protocol for the DotSama ecosystem. The debut of the “Apollo” edition of Moonwell on the Moonriver network marks the beginning of the journey into the ecosystem.
Why Moonriver?
Moonriver is a fully functional, EVM compatible chain with a devoted and active community, serving as the gateway to the Kusama ecosystem. As Moonriver is the counterpart to Moonbeam — an EVM compatible chain on Polkadot — it was an easy decision to deploy on Moonriver first.
“Apollo” will serve as the community oriented protocol — new features, and community oriented initiatives will be the primary focus for the Moonriver edition of the protocol. This will allow all features to be tested and refined for a smooth roll out to “Artemis” — the protocol counterpart to be launched on Moonbeam.
Partnerships and Support
We’ve received a warm welcome from the community, with several projects that have provided us with much guidance in the community itself.
- Solarbeam was one of the first projects to welcome us into the ecosystem, and one of the first partnerships for Moonwell. Solarbeam is one of the leading DEX on Moonriver, along with their counterpart Solarflare on Moonbeam. This partnership will allow Moonwell to flourish, and provide much needed liquidity.
- RomeDAO’s team and formidable army have provided us with a warm and generous welcome to the Moonriver ecosystem. As a native project in the ecosystem with an excited and eager community, Rome DAO is an obvious choice for native ecosystem projects to support.

Initial Supported Tokens & Rewards
Moonwell open beta launch will support the following tokens:
- MOVR
- ETH
- BTC
- USDC
- USDT
- FRAX
These six assets represent tokens with the highest liquidity per bridge across Solarbeam, Zenlink, and Sushi DEX liquidity as well as Chainlink support.
The Moonriver native token (MOVR) will be the first reward users can earn through supplying assets. This will lead up to a formal launch of Moonwell: Apollo’s own token — more information will follow in the coming weeks, so stay tuned to our social media, and join our chat channels for the most up to date information.
How to Participate
As we are rolling out an open beta to the community, anyone can participate.
During this period of time, please expect some small changes to take place continuously as we adjust and make fixes based on user feedback. This open beta will also allow us to smooth out the final details in anticipation for the launch of Artemis, on Moonbeam.
