Since its launch, Zenlink has been running smoothly for almost two months with plenty of activities, including trading mining, staking, liquidity mining, invite to earn, bootstrap, etc. With the gradual growth and stabilization of TVL & trading volume, we believe Zenlink has won the trust of the dotsama community.
Nevertheless, we will keep our promise to make Zenlink as open and transparent as possible and move towards full decentralization. Now it’s time to announce Zenlink open source program! The Zenlink open source program is divided into three general steps: blockchain explorer open source, published audit report, and GitHub code open source, which we will follow to implement the Zenlink open source work.
Blockchain Explorer Open Source
First of all, it should be clear that Zenlink DEX Protocol includes Module, EVM, and WASM implementations, so it is flexible and adaptable to be deployed on different parachains, and it can be composed and interoperated with different DeFi modules in a customizable way.
Zenlink DEX is now officially live with Moonriver (EVM Contract) and Bifrost (Module). Of which, since Moonriver is an EVM compatible chain when Zenlink EVM Contract is deployed to the Moonriver network, it should make some necessary information available to the community in Blockchain Explorer (e.g. Etherescan), as most projects built on Ethereum do. It would be beneficial for the community to know more details about the project and increase trust.
Therefore, it is essential that Blockchain Explorer be open sourced. After confirming the plan, Zenlink has been officially open sourced in Moonriver Blockchain Explorer (Moonscan) on November 19, and users can check out more information here: https://moonriver.moonscan.io/address/0x0f47ba9d9Bde3442b42175e51d6A367928A1173B
Release of Audit Report
Whether a project, especially a DeFi project, has an audit report from a trusted third-party security audit company is also a topic of great interest to the community. In fact, even though the Zenlink team has full confidence in all of its code, we still decided to conduct a code audit.
Previously, we have announced that Zenlink has commissioned SlowMist, a third-party security audit company, to conduct a code security audit, which will be divided into two parts: the EVM Contract audit and the Module audit. The EVM Contract audit was basically completed before Zenlink DEX went live, and the Module was submitted to SlowMist for code security audit together with the Bifrost team.
Since the code audits for both versions are not synchronized, we will release the audit report to the community after the Module version audit is completed, so stay tuned!
Github Code Open Source
The final step of the open source program is open-sourcing the Github code, where the Zenlink DEX Module is already open sourced, and we will also open source the Zenlink EVM Contract code repository so that the community can understand Zenlink’s code composition.
Even though we are confident in the code we build, we cannot guarantee 100% that there are no bugs or even that it will be exploited by some unsuspecting people, etc. Security is always one of the top principles of the Zenlink team, so we will also initiate a Bug Bounty Program at this stage to continuously strengthen and improve the security of the Zenlink DEX Protocol through community and external forces.
The Bug Bounty Program will include, but is not limited to the following types:
- Re-entrancy
- Logic errors
- Solidity/EVM/Rust/Substrate details not considered
- Trusting trust/dependency vulnerabilities
- Oracle failure/manipulation
- Economic/financial attacks
- Congestion and scalability
- ……
It should set bonuses according to the different threat levels. This benefits everyone. It benefits projects, good security researchers, malicious actors who are persuaded to engage in legitimate activities, and most importantly, it improves the reputation of the DeFi community overall.
More details about Github source code open source and Bug Bounty Program will be announced soon, stay tuned!
