On April 23, Kanaria participated in the AMA with PolkaWarriors to introduce and answer questions of the community about their project - A NFT ICO launchpad.
Kanaria is an NFT ICO launchpad which lets anyone launch their own Crypto-punks/ Substrapunks style ICO in a very short time, without having to write any code, and even without smart contracts. Kanaria is also the fundraiser for the RMRK team, so that the team can sell NFTs and get funding for long-term development of more free open source NFT platforms.
The AMA session was held in PolkaWarriors Telegram Channel, with the participation of Bruno Skvorc - Founder of RMRK.app. Many interesting questions about topics such as: products’ features, their working process, their upcoming listing, etc were answered by Bruno.
Below is the recap of the AMA session.
1. Where does the project name come from? What does it mean for you and why did you choose that name for your project?
Bruno:
The name comes from system.remark, the core function of any Substrate blockchain. It's what we use to enable this NFT functionality, and is at the core of our system currently.
This means that ANY Substrate-based blockchain (Substrate is the blockchain framework on which all these chains are built) can use our NFT system, even if it has no smart contracts. So, Polkadot, Kusama, Moonbeam, Unique, Acala, Karura, Edgeware, Statemint - all of them can use RMRK NFTs.
2. You can briefly talk about how the project works, who the investor's budgets will be managed by. And who are the key members, the founder of the project?
Bruno:
The project works by sending custom messages (remarks) into the chain, and then we use our RMRK tools and specifications to interpret those messages and give them meaning - like seeing NFTs and interacting with NFTs, even though there are no smart contracts.
Our treasury right now is managed by the RMRK team, but in the future will be decentralized through the RMRK token. The key members are myself, Yuri Petusko, Yuri Girjanski, Ilia Dvornikovs, three awesome devs. That's the core team.
3. What is your background and how did you come to the idea to create your project?
Bruno:
So I started in Ethereum in 2015 with education, worked on Ethereum 2 for a while, and then transitioned to Web3 Foundation as a technical educator.
Last year in August I noticed the NFT craze was starting up again so I decided to create NFTs on Kusama network even though Kusama has no smart contracts.
The business model and revenue is in the for-profit user interfaces and Apps we'll create as the RMRK team, and in official partnerships we'll be building for the ecosystem. The RMRK team will be sharing all its future revenue with our early adopters (egg buyers) and the egg holders will also get a "fairdrop" of tokens.
We have a lot of SaaS and service plans, but also auction houses, marketplaces, and in-game partnerships lined up.
4. What is the vision and mission of RMRK? What problems are you to solve? Do these problems remain unsolved with the existing public blockchains?
Bruno:
The vision is to have the most advanced system of evolving NFTs on any platform. Right now, NFTs are just collecting digital dust, but with RMRK, NFTs can own other NFTs (imagine in-game characters with an inventory), NFTs can react to emotion (imagine a photo of a moon, and if you send it 50 then a rocket lands on it), NFTs can have multiple resources (imagine minting an NFT of a video game and it has a high resolution cover image, the code of the game, the instruction manual, all in one NFT), and NFTs can be governed like DAOs (fungible tokens made from the NFT used for governance, so that you can collectively decide on some things as the NFT).
When you put all this together, you can imagine a big digital billboard in some metaverse VR space, and then this billboard can have its shareholders (DAO) and big brands like Coca Cola and Pepsi can send it the ad they want to display on the billboard. So now the tokenholders of this NFT can decide which ad to show, and the corporations have to pay the token holders to vote a certain way.
These problems cannot be solved on other blockchains for two reasons: 1. the fees are too high there to regularly interact with an NFT, and 2. they don't have our team.
5. I've read that the most expensive NFT sold was the Beeple NFTs Collection, which sold $3.5 million. Then can you post here what is the best NFT RMRK have or the most expensive? Then what is unique about your NFT? RMRK have plan add feature NFTs Farm?
Bruno:
The most expensive collection was sold for 69 million dollars actually :) The most expensive NFT on Kanaria so far was ~$80,000.
For what's unique, you should check the previous answer :) NFT farming, there are no immediate plans but we're talking to a lot of platforms about adding our functionality and so there's no way to know what kind of wonderful things we will have soon.
In the live questions sections, Bruno did answer several short questions from the Polka Warriors community.
1. The NFT ecosystem is huge and there is fierce competition in the DeFi+NFT space. Which NFT project do you see as your competitors? And how do you plan to compete with them?
Bruno:
There is no competition. We have built the best and most advanced NFT system in the world, so no one can compete right now. And if some competition appears, that means they did BETTER NFTs than us, and so again everybody wins. We just want everyone to win. But we are working actively with projects which you might see as competitors, in order to give them our innovations and spread RMRK out in as many ecosystems as possible
2. Are you a global project or local project? Can anybody anywhere use Your project without any restrictions?
Bruno:
USA cannot buy the eggs from us, but can buy the eggs from other people. P2P trading is enabled, so you can already make money on Kanaria.
3. A partnership is essential for Adoption, so can you tell us what partners you have now and in the future?
Bruno:
-
Unique network to deploy our standards there.
-
Moonbeam network to deploy as contracts there too.
-
Unifty to mint and trade NFTs there.
-
Several secret collaborations I cannot talk about yet.
4. Do the token holders have right to participate in the governance of the project? On what kind of decisions can they vote on about the project?
Bruno:
Yes, token holders of the RMRK token (which you can only get if you buy eggs) will govern the platform and be able to change fees, integrations params and rules, partnerships, and more.
5. Could you please provide some info about your Roadmap and how KANARIA is progressing so far?
Bruno:
Roadmap: hatching will happen on June 1st, people who have eggs will get birds. Then we move to Unique and mint the RMRK token when Statemint chain launches. Then we build UIs, marketplaces, and video games. Nothing specific - all depends on when Polkadot / Kusama parachain functionality arrives, but we have HUGE plans (see whitepaper: url.rmrk.app/wp)
